The highlights are coming thick and fast in the run up to Christmas and hot off the back of our tripled-header of top notch RPGs (Secret of Mana, Kingdom Hearts II and Final Fantasy VII if you weren't paying attention), we've a myriad of reviews and features coming your way as we head toward the holiday season.

You've got this to look forward to: two modern reboots in the form of scrap 'em up Double Dragon Neon and a game even your granddad would recognise in Space Invaders Extreme. There's also two rocket-fuelled arcade racers in Blur and Burnout Revenge, two survival-horror titles charting the recent fortunes of Silent Hill with Homecoming and Downpour. And last but not least, two Pixel Writers going head-to-head, as Chris and Shane not only battle it out in our second Pixel Hi-Score Duel, but provide reviews to the PS2 and HD X360 versions of the game.

Oh, and keep an eye out for the Pixel Empire Mk II on Modnation Racers. I may not be all that good, but at least people will know our name through this snazzy kart! ;)

If you like RPGs, you're really gonna love the next few days. Chris, Shane and Tom each review a JRPG from a different generation - and we've some real classics amongst them.

Revered SNES classic Secret of Mana is first up, before we hop a few years to cover Kingdom Hearts II the Disney/Final Fantasy mash-up that has garnered a strong cult following in recent years. And then, put simply, Final Fantasy VII. Two words and one number that still mean so much to so many 15 years on from it's original release. Evidently, when it comes to role-playing games, it's hip to be Square. We're really looking forward to this!

Our Halloween Horror special has only just finished (I can still hear the screams) yet we're already looking ahead to the treats that lie in store for The Pixel Empire in November.

We've got a Darksiders double to kick things off as Shane reviews both action-heavy X360 titles. After that, we're focusing on giving some JRPGs some love. You'll probably have guessed at least one of the games  we'll be covering from my excessive hints on TPE's facebook page, ahem. Elsewhere, a continuation of our retro/modern review coverage is on the menu, as well as more features and new ideas which we're dying to tell you about, but have to keep under wraps, just a little while longer ;)
