Happy Xmas from The Pixel Empire!

How time flies! Seven months and five days ago exactly I tentatively opened the doors to a website, with nothing but a snazzy name and half-a-dozen redrafted reviews to show for itself. Alongside the launch came a simple (though at the time, insanely unrealistic) pledge to offer detailed, contextual coverage on anything and everything throughout gaming history. "Mainstream and obscure, old and new" I said.

Fortunately, help and relative sanity were soon on hand as one by one, colleagues and friends from consumer review sites clownfoot, Stunt101 and Novabug (or as I hope they will become more broadly known in time: Alan Passingham, Shane Battams and Chris Weatherley) came to form a small but immaculate team of Pixel writers. All sport different styles, and each has an interest in different eras and formats. But luckily for me, all share an enthusiasm for gaming, critiquing and devising ideas for furthering the site.

To these writers I owe a huge thanks. I also want to thank everyone who has taken the time to read our work over the last few months. Every comment on every review has been greatly appreciated, as has your continued participation on our facebook and twitter pages - we will always take note and try to fulfil any review requests, should you have one. As of Christmas Eve, we already have a whopping 101 reviews live on the site, covering no fewer than 20 different formats, and there's a dozen feature pieces too. For six months consecutively since launch, The Pixel Empire has seen an increase in the number of visitors coming to the site, and more than 28,000 page views already.

I'm really excited about the future of the site. We're still small-time, but still in our infancy. Because of the nature of the site we're unaffiliated, unbiased and hype-free - which is how all game sites should be. We hope to continue to expand our catalogue of reviews and features into the New Year and aim to secure some interviews with developers and personalities from the industry as well. Hope you all have a great holiday period and roll on 2013! :)
