Pixel Editor and one-man reviewing machine, Tom's interest in critiquing games started with an old SEGA Mean Machines annual back in the early nineties, and ever since then, has sought a near-maniacal need to grade games on their merits and weaknesses, even writing up the majority of his reviews by hand first, using what will one day be remembered as pens. He nurtures a love of lightweight pop music, almost any sport you could care to mention and has recently rekindled his love of arcades in seaside towns, dodgy as they are. He loves every genre you could think to name (although admits he's a bit crap at RTSs) and gets all misty-eyed at the mention of Final Fantasy VII, Flashback, Streets Of Rage and Wonder Boy.

ED: "Few writers express so vividly the highs and lows of gaming. Al's knowledge spans several generations, but whether the game he's covering is a world-beater or a pile of poo, his style never fails to engage with the reader and raise a smile"

Formerly a professional tea drinker and champion procrastinator, who wishes he could return to those heady days of bone-idleness, Alan's full-time Dad status has severely cut into his precious gaming time. When he does manage to move the Earth to settle down to 15 minutes of hardcore button bashing he subsequently writes about the experience on the commute to London. Big fan of old games having been a child of the eighties and nineties, Alan spends too much of his time downloading old stuff from GOG.com and playing the Head Over Heels remake. Also hates Metal Gear Solid and Modern Warfare with a passion.

ED: "The youngest member of the team, Shane already has a rich history in consumer review circles (by 18, he'd already attained more game crowns on dooyoo.co.uk than anyone else in the site's history). We couldn't let his modern gamer knowledge go to waste!"

All it took was a playthrough of Crash Bandicoot 3 more than ten years ago, and games are now a key part of Shane's hobbies. The only thing he likes more than gaming is reviewing the games he plays. He’s a bit sad that he missed out on the 5th-generation of gaming, but he still loves his 6th and 7th, particularly the PS2. He likes just about any genre – wrestling, shooting, role-playing, strategy and music games. He’s maybe not so keen on FIFA and the like, but he’s open minded to them too.

ED: "Ever wondered who makes the site look so sexy? It's Chris. He crafted the banners, the logos, even our avatars! A writer of great enthusiasm and style, he has an encyclopedic knowledge of 8-bit and 16-bit formats that's perfect for TPE"

A gamer since 1984, Chris started off with an Amstrad CPC 464 (the one with the coloured keys and built-in tape deck!), before continuing his love affair with Amstrad formats. He later became acquainted with the SNES and Street Fighter II, which has been overworked ever since. A full-time London bus driver with three children, his gaming time is limited and thus, doesn't do modern consoles. Well, except the Wii, but mainly for family fun. He's a mental Red Dwarf fan, likes a broad range of genres but went cold turkey on FPS's after Quake II. On a mission to collect every GX4000 title, so if anyone has Copter 271 or Chase HQ2 and are willing to part with them, get in touch, he'll love you forever.
