REVIEWS | GAMECUBE

Sixth generation | 2001-2007 | GameCube Game Disc
Games: 651 | Units sold: 21.74m

Competing with the PS2 and the Xbox, the GameCube’s chief selling points included its affordable price-point, compact size and decent mix of exclusives and third-party games. Its controller proved a stumbling block, with almost every button (and analogue stick) a different size and shape, making for a relatively unintuitive experience. Rogue Leader and F-Zero GX helped showcase the GC’s superb graphical capabilities, whilst the Game Boy Player could run Game Boy, GBC and Game Boy Advance games on the TV, though the system saw a continuation in the decline of Nintendo’s home console sales that dated back three generations.
