REVIEWS | PLAYSTATION 4
Eighth generation | 2013-unknown | Blu-ray; DVD; CD-ROM; digital
Games: 3,451 | Sales: 117m
The PS4 saw a return to a position of strength for Sony, after conceded a large chunk of their market share to the Xbox 360 during the previous generation. The PlayStation 4 provided a much-improved online experience as well as much more convincing technical performance from its third-party titles. It allowed for easy screen and video capture, encouraging players to share their gaming experiences. The DualShock 4 controller, with its revised analogue sticks and improved triggers, was very well received. Uncharted 4, Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Zero Dawn provided the system with sizeable hits. The PS4 was followed by two revised models in 2016: a Slim, and the PS4 Pro with upgraded hardware allowing for play in 4K resolution.
